Viagra6car took his 5th consecutive pole Thursday night in Chicago, keeping the front-row starting streak alive at 6. G ROCK took outside of row 1 surprisingly, but started last when he exited the server accidentaly, moving Reef up to 2nd. Viagra6car would lead the first lap from the pole, with 8 of 11 starters still in the draft. LH8, Crkfngr, and Raines74 were the 3 that lost the draft but would regain it about 5 laps in. Ten of the 11 starters would swap the lead over the 38 lap event. The first accident of the race was about 10 laps in when Bear328 hit the wall in a 3 wide deal. Bear didn't lose a lot of speed during this, but side-by-side racing with Raines74 in the back of the pack lost the draft for him. KTIN3 would also get knocked out about 5 laps later from linewarp. The 3 racers would have no realistic chance of gaining ground on the 8 car pack. Raines74 would retire from the event just after the midway point and take 11th place, while Bear held off KTIN3 at the end for 9th place. Reef and TommyW each led 11 laps, more than the rest of the drivers, and were definately the cars to beat. TommyW led as the pack took the white flag, but would be passed by Reef down the backstretch as the beating and banging began behind him. Reef drove away for a large draft-race margin of victory of over 2 tenths. Back in 2nd place though, Crkfngr & LH8 slam-banged their way to the line, with Crk taking a career best 2nd place in the grass. LH8 would settle for 3rd, also his best career finish. TommyW would barely finish ahead of Dhib8 & Viagra6car for 4th place. G ROCK quietly hung back in the pack with Viagra6car and Lepage71 throughout the race and finished in 7th. Lepage71 had his worst finish of the season by far, taking 8th place. As the first road course race of the schedule is up next, Lepage71 leads fast-charging Reef by exactly 100 points. Reef has gained 5 positions in the standings in the last 2 weeks as he is the highest he has been in points since the end of Season 1, and his ghosting problems look like they are gone for sure. Bear328 barely moved ahead of Efgordon in the standings for 3rd and is 7 points behind Reef, and 8 points ahead of Ef. Dhib8 moves into a tie for 5th in points with KTIN3, with Viagra6car 6 points behind them. 2nd through 7th is a logjam, all seperated by 37 points. -Thrown together by Viagra6car |
