Lepage71 started from the pole, his second of the season. Next to him on the front row again was Viagra6car, just 0.010 seconds off the pole. GR8-1 started outside row 2, but made his move right away and led lap 1 by about 1/3 carlength over Viagra6car. As Viagra6car led lap 2, Pitbull4 took the middle lane between G ROCK & Lepage71. Lepage71 had nowhere to go but into the wall, slowing him just a few MPH, but ending up in Dhib8's path. Dhib8 ran into the back of the 71 car and would lose the draft from this. On lap 4, another problem occured. Lepage71, Bear328, and Viagra6car went 3 wide into the turn, with the 6 car ending up in the wall. As he was getting his car off the wall--GR8-1, Pitbull4, G ROCK, and KTIN3 get into a jam but fortunately they all stayed in the draft. Reef, Lepage71, Bear328, and Efgordon would all take turns leading laps and picking up 2 important bonus points for it. Down the backstretch on lap 12, Pitbull4 drifted up into the wall, and as he moved the car down the track and off the wall, went right into G ROCK's path. The ROCK lost the draft from this. Lap 1 leader GR8-1 continues to have ghosting problems, and lost the draft from it on lap 16. Reef, the other driver commonly known for ghosting, had this as a partial cause of losing the draft on lap 20. It started with hitting the wall entering turn 3 following KTIN3's draft. The defending race champion finished 7th. So it came down to 6 cars up front. Bear328, Efgordon, KTIN3, Lepage71, Pitbull4, and Viagra6car. All 6 remained in the draft without incident laps 21-35. On that 35th lap, Viagra6car found himself on his own in the outside line, so let off the gas to drop to the last car in the pack. Bear328 looked to make a move to the outside of Lepage71, but wasn't completely clear of the 6 car. A slight nudge put the #6 coupe into the wall just barely, but Pitbull4 put him into the wall real good having no time to react. The pack was down to 5, including all 3 points leaders. Lepage71 would unknowingly make the winning pass on Efgordon on lap 36 and built up his lead as a battle occured for positions 2-5. Into turn 2 on the last lap, Pitbull4 drifted all the way up the track while inside of KTIN3, pinching KT to the wall. Pit was penalized 5 points for this move, as these 2 finished in 4th and 5th positions. Lepage71 just built up too big of a lead for Bear328 to catch up to and pass him, and so the 28 car finished in 2nd position, leaving him 24 points out of the lead. Efgordon barely beat Pitbull4 back to the line for 3rd, leaving him 18 points behind Lepage for the championship after the 2 were tied entering this event. With just 1 points event left on the schedule, 3 drivers still have a chance at taking the championship next Thursday in Pocono. The only other points battle entering the final race is for the 10th position between Kyle4445 & KTIN3, seperated by 35 points. |
