Reef picked up his second pole of the season at his "hometown" track in Loudon, New Hampshire Thursday night, with points leader Efgordon to the outside of row 1. In a rare instance, the polesitter led the first lap of the race. Reef led lap 1 as Efgordon, Viagra6car, GR8-1, G ROCK, and Bear328 battled as they pulled away from 7th place on back. Viagra6car was on the move from his starting spot of 4th to take the lead on lap 2, staying there until lap 4...when GR8-1 took the lead. At the same time, Lepage71 caught up with the leaders as G ROCK, Pitbull4, KTIN3, and Aldog626 continued to lose time on the leaders. G ROCK had a decent run going in the first few laps, but damaged his front end and fell back to last place by lap 8. Meanwhile, a truly great battle developed from positions 2-5. Viagra6car, Reef, Efgordon, and Lepage71 were all "under a blanket" battling for position. Behind them, Bear328 & KTIN3 had a lengthy battle, which Bear eventually won...and then tried to run down the leaders. On lap 10, points leader Efgordon ran into the back of Viagra6car entering turn 3, giving him a large quantity of front end damage, and killing the handling. The same exact thing happened to Reef on lap 12, as these 2 fell behind the leaders by several seconds. Lepage71 took the lead and brought Viagra6car with him on lap 16 as they went by GR8-1. On the same lap, Bear328 moved up to 4th, passing both Reef & Efgordon. With the same deal, GR8-1 ran into the back of car #6 on lap 18, killing his handling. The different lines drivers were using into the turns caused all the problems for Reef, Efgordon, and GR8-1. Everyone was pretty strung out as the halfway point approached,with the exception of Reef & Efgordon. These 2 battled each other the entire race for position basically, other than the final 3 laps after Reef slammed he wall in turn 4. Viagra6car moved back to the lead on lap 20, and stayed there for a while this time as Lepage was "saving his Goodyear Eagles." These two stayed in line until the last handful of laps. Lepage made the move on the 6 car on lap 42 in turn 1 to the inside. However, Viagra6car took the lead back just a lap and a half later. In the final turn, Viagra6car appeared to be bumped up the track by Lepage, but as was later discovered, it was only a warp related problem for the 6. Lepage completed the pass down low in the final turn and took his 4th win of the season. Viagra6car led the most laps and took 2nd spot. Bear328 took 3rd position for the 5th week in a row, moving to within 16 points of 5th place finishing Efgordon in the standings (see left). Next week the LCHers are off to Big Track, an enourmous track that could probably support up to 10-wide racing. |
