Efgordon picked up his 5th pole of the season, just barely, with a laptime of 14.528 seconds @ New_River Raceway. Lepage71 missed the pole by just 0.001 seconds and started on the outside of row 1. Viagra6car in 3rd missed the pole by 0.007 seconds also. Lepage71 got the good run on the outside line and went to the lead into turn 1, and would keep the lead for the first 11 laps. Just behind him though--Ffstbone007, Viagra6car, Efgordon, Bear328, and Pitbull4 were battling for positions 2-6. The top 5 began to pull away from the other 6 cars by lap 10 with the order-Lepage, V6C, Bear, Ffstbone, & Efgordon. On the 10th lap, Pitbull4 and KTIN3 got together as KT carried on without problems while Pit also made contact with GR8-1 & LH8. LH got the worst of it though, as his front spoiler was heavily damaged, and led him to retiring by lap 50 and finishing 10th. On the 12th lap, Viagra6car passed the 71 car for the lead...and as the 6 led for the first time, he ran into the wall and dropped way behind and into 10th place. At this time, Bear328 moved ahead of Lepage for what would be the lead after they passed the slowed 6 car. In the back, Reef got knocked out by warp from the car of Raines74, as Viagra6car would pass both-as well as LH8 and move up to 8th. Ffstbone hit the wall on lap 17 and almost took out KTIN3 as KT & GR8-1 would move by though without damage. Also on lap 17, Lepage moved back by Bear for the lead after they made some contact...as Efgordon came from no where and moved to 2nd in front of Bear. The battle for 5th place was looking good between Ffstbone & GR8-1 from laps 17-22 until Ff bunced off the wall a few times and fell way behind. The "TIN man" (KTIN3) was sneaking up on the leaders in 4th place as well. Bear328 had pulled out in front by a decent margin, but Lepage, Ef, and KT had a good battle for 2nd throughout the race. Viagra6car was still trying to get back into the race and moved into 7th, passing Pitbull4 on lap 25. He was up to 6th after passing Ffstbone on lap 38. Both LH8 & Ffstbone007 retired from the race on lap 45. GR8-1 also trickled his was towards the front as he passed Efgordon on lap 46. Viagra6car crept into the picture just 7 laps later as he passed KTIN3, then GR8-1 on lap 57, Efgordon on lap 68, and finally Lepage71 on lap 71 to move to 2nd place (3.1 seconds out of the lead). The next lap, KTIN3 put Lepage into the wall, which earned him a 5 point penalty as the 71 car (the points leader) dropped to 6th. On lap 88, the final "get together" happened as lap car Reef hit the backstretch wall, then came down the track as GR8-1 & KTIN3 were approaching him. GR8-1 went low to avoid while KTIN3 went high. Reef went up the track and took out KTIN then (where his 5 point penalty is from). KT dropped to 6th as GR8-1 and eventually Lepage71 moved by him. Viagra6car was still trying to run down Bear328 up front. He was down to just 1.9 seconds behind with 25 to go, then 1.1 behind with 10 to go. As 5 laps remained he was 0.8 behind. Bear328 kept it off the wall though and held off the fast-charging 6 car for his 2nd career win. He makes it clear that he is still in the championship running with 3 races left. |
