Bear328 won his first career pole Thursday night in Richmond with a quick lap of 22.474 seconds. Reef started in his normal spot of outside front row. Bear would lead the first 2 laps before being passed by Efgordon for the top spot. Reef would drop back quickly after hitting the wall off turn 2, falling out of the top 5. TommyW started in last (8th), but was battling for a top 4 spot within 5 laps, certainly on the move. After Ef took the lead on lap 3, Bear328 also moved over to let the faster Viagra6car by on lap 6. Tom would sneak by Bear a couple laps later for 3rd, as the top 3 cars began to pull far away from the other cars. JoseSwervo made his first start in the LCH series from the 5th position and held that position for most of the race. His buddy G ROCK would be hounding him for the spot all race though. On the 9th lap, Viagra6car got by Efgordon entering turn 1, but could not pull away from the Ef. The two cars would run within 0.3 seconds for the next 40 laps or so, but Viagra6car held the lead the whole time. TommyW was just behind the leaders, only a couple seconds back. As the final 10 laps came, the tires were beginning to wear down, and causing problems for drivers like 2nd place Efgordon. He quickly lost touch with the 6 car, dropping about 3 seconds behind. TomW would drop about 10 seconds out of 1st, but was uncontended for 3rd place. The final lap was a play it safe lap for the 6 car as Reef & G ROCK would hit the wall just in front of him on the backstretch. Viagra6car kept his distance from them instead of trying to pass, which ended up helping the 2 drivers. JoseSwervo had 5th for sure it looked like with 2 to go, but supposedly his kids grabbed the steering wheel, slowing him several seconds. G & Reef would both pass him in the final turn for 5th and 6th. Bear quietly finished 4th, while Jose would take a disappointing 7th place. KTIN3 was the final finisher in 8th, running pretty well for finding out late that the race was in Richmond. This is Viagra6car's 1st win since Sears Point last season, 25 races ago. Lepage71 missed the race and only leads the points by 66 over Reef now. Viagra6car in 4th is only 19 points behind Reef, so it's getting interesting. |
