Fourth Witkum Memorial Win for Warren Makes SUPRS History
Fourth Randy Witkum Memorial 125 Win for Warren Sets Record

April 4, 2019 – Jennerstown, PA…Rob Warren made Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), history as the first four-time Randy Witkum Memorial 125 winner Tuesday night at Jennerstown Speedway. The 125 lap race was the last stop of SUPRS 14th Annual Keystone Nationals and Warren’s win propelled him to his fourth Keystone Nationals Championship, tying Myles Maxon for the most all-time. Bob Gangwer, and Keith Powell completed the podium in the grueling supermodified sim race.
Stressful Win for Warren

Early Lead Diminishes

After passing Steve Callahan, Warren stepped out to an early lead that, at times, stretched to nearly four seconds. Callahan had issues and got into the back stretch wall allowing three-time Witkum Memorial champion, Bob Gangwer, and Callahan's teammate, Keith Powell, to slide by and begin a charge to the front.

Gangwer eventually broke free of Powell and with 20 laps to go had reeled Warren in, setting the stage for a battle to the finish.

“It was a stressful yet amazing race. I tried to maintain the car, but the field caught up quick when we got to lap 100,” Warren said. “That added dramatically to the stress level and about made my heart pound out of my chest.”

Holds Off Gangwer

As has happened not less that three previous times in this race, Gangwer pushed Warren hard the last 10 laps, trying for naught to find a way around the Pulaski, NY racer. With about five laps to go, the two touched coming out of turn four and that was the end of Gangwer after he sustained front end damage from the contact.

When asked where this win ranked verses the previous three, Warren said, “Years ago it seemed so much easier. I lapped the field in this race once. The field has gotten faster or I’m not taking care of my equipment like I used to, so I think this is was the toughest one to win.”

Warren Wins Fourth Keystone Nationals Championship

After winning the first race and coming home with a second place at Nazareth, Rob Warren tallied enough points to bring home his fourth Keystone Nationals Championship and gains 15 bonus points for doing so.

Keystone Nationals Perfect Attendance

Rob Warren, Bob Gangwer, Keith Powell, Carl Becker, and Brad Keysor had perfect attendance for the 14th Annual Keystone Nationals. Nine drivers total competed in at least one of the three races.

With his second place finish, Gangwer joins SpeedyMan, Rob Warren and Steve Callahan as a guaranteed starter for the season-ending 15th Annual Summit Classic 125 next month at Madera Speedway.
