IROC Challenge Revival Meets Strong Reviews

Was that a success or what? In 2019, the NHRL IROC Challenge made a popular return to the league and the results did not disappoint. In fact, the long-waited revival of the identical setup series would exceed expectations. There were perhaps three main reasons. One, the IROC Challenge introduced a ground-breaking new race system and became the first series in league history to use segments. Each event had unpredictable inverted starting grids as well as segment restart order reversals. Second, in clear examples of its wide-open format, IROC featured two first-time series winners in viagra6car and Bandit. Moreover, there were multiple races where all but one or two drivers led laps. And finally, despite the close competition, it also rewarded great performances, with Speedyman11 claiming the series championship on the strength of five victories. However, only one of those wins had a margin over 4 seconds, and three of the victories were decided by less than half of a second. Overcoming screen minimization issues, lepage71 rallied to finish second on the podium, winning the opening event at Milwaukee. The two other series victors, viagra6car and Bandit, claimed third and fourth in the standings. Many hope the league takes a serious look at renewing the series next year.
