On June 29, the NHRL Cup Series headed to Daytona to forge what would be a night that will echo throughout eternity. In almost perfect harmony, the drivers of the NASCAR Heat Racing League conducted one of the finest orchestras the NASCAR Heat community has ever seen. Grumpy, in a meritorious show of grit, courage, and artistry, drove to his first NHRL victory, keeping at bay a draft pack including lepage71, Speedymany11, BlackKnight, and Bandit, who were virtually under an umbrella over the final half of the race. The heroism of Grumpy at Daytona is only matched by such feats as June 6, 1944. Indeed, as BlackKnight said shortly afterwards, overcome by the brilliance, Grumpy "stormed the beaches of Daytona" in the truest sense. And the resulting impact is real. As we speak, the world is changing under foot, as poets apply pen to paper, children learn to sing new hymns of peace, and scholars reflect on this grand junction in history. It was a night that shall endure forever in time.
