On July 20, the Cup Series traveled to Martinsville for the eighth meeting of the 2018 campaign. As expected, the level of action and drama hit soaring heights. Overcoming a party of pursuers, Speedyman11 drove to a convincing win through a speedy machine, leading 98 of 130 laps and edging lepage71 by 3.0 seconds. En route to second-place, lepage71 led 29 laps of his own to put up a serious competition for the hardware. In a fine bid, Jes Rathbun claimed the final step on the podium, coming to the finish two laps behind Speedyman11. Not to be overlooked, Bandit and BlackKnight were no slouches either, registering fourth and fifth to wrap up the top-five. The victory, Speedyman11's fifth of the season, boosts his cushion over lepage71 in the standings to 14 points. In its next event, the Cup Series heads to Atlanta in what promises to be another shootout.
