First Visit to Oswego Speedway Results in Feature Win for Speedyman11

June 11, 2019 – Oswego, NY…In his first visit to the famed "Home of the Supermodifieds," SpeedyMan11 took his TMS Wolfpack “Black Beauty” roadster to the win in the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 45 lap NASCAR Heat feature event for non-wing supermodifieds Tuesday night at Oswego Speedway. Early leader, Rob Warren, came home for second place about a half second back with Bob Gangwer on the podium for the second week in a row.

Fun, Competitive

"This was a really fun night," said SpeedyMan11. "I tried the outside a couple of times to by Rob, but that left the door open for Bob, so I just followed Rob and waited for a mistake."

"It was a very competitive race," the winner said. "I couldn't shake Rob, I got a little bit of a gap, but the car had some damage, I just couldn't pull away like I wanted."

"Thanks to SUPRS for having us Mod Squad and Heat Finder guys, and thanks to 1st to Finish Race Servers for hosting," said SpeedyMan11.

Warren's Undoing

Rob Warren made that mistake on lap 18 as he entered turn three. Staying tight the inside hub rail had worked for a long time, but he got too close for comfort and bounced the left side wheels off the unforgiving steel which sent him sailing up the track. That opened the door for the 18-time ARL champion to slide underneath for the lead.

Warren, the defending SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion had this to say about his loss. "Congrats to Speedy, his race craft tonight was awesome. I knew he was there breathing down my neck and I could hear Bob back there too. I thought to myself, "They can have all the room they want on the top, but I'm not coming off the bottom," and I just under drove turn three and opened the door for Speedy."

Next Race

SUPRS next race of the non-wing supermodified summer season is the prestigious 14th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial.

This race honors the “father of the modern supermodified,” Jim Shampine. Shampine tops the list of All-Time Winners at Oswego Speedway with 87 feature victories, was a 7-time track champion, and won the prestigious International Classic 200 three times. “The Pine” lost his life during a modified race at Oswego Speedway in 1982 and his loss is still felt today. This race is the first of three ‘guaranteed starter” races for the season ending Topless! 200.
