SUPRS Victory Lane
Dominant Run by Keith Powell Nets SUPRS 16th Anniversary Special Win

November 5, 2019 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), celebrated its 16th Anniversary of sim racing with a 75 lap feature at Quarter Speedway on Election Day which was won in dominant fashion by Keith “Put One on Ya” Powell of Carrollton, OH.

Powell, who, of all the drivers present, had been a SUPRS member the longest, took full advantage of the pole position that his SUPRS tenure rewarded him with, led all 75 laps of the feature, set the fastest lap of the race, and won by over six seconds. Current point leader Rob Warren finished second, and SUPRS co-founder Bob Gangwer, who elected to start at the tail of the field, rallied to third place.

Happy to Win in Special Car

Ironically, Powell, even though he has been a SUPRS member since November 7, 2005, (and only two other drivers besides SUPRS co-founders, John Davidson and Bob Gangwer have been SUPRS members longer than Powell), didn’t have his own car in the game.

That wasn’t a problem though for the long-time crew member of the real supermodified race team, May Motorsports. He felt right at home driving the red #7 that real racer Charlie Schultz had used in SUPRS competition so many years back. “It feels pretty good to get a victory in this car,” said Powell. “There’s a lot of history behind this car and I’m super excited to bag this one. To win this one on SUPRS anniversary, it’s pretty neat to bring it home in this car.”

SUPRS Honors Veterans at Next Race

The SUPRS racers keep rolling into November and next week it’s another NASCAR Heat race. The Veterans Day Special on Tuesday, November 12 is run to honor America’s Armed Forces Veterans and this year it’s moving back to New River Valley Speedway. Hot Laps get underway at 8:15pm on the high-banked 1/2 mile in Radford, VA. Racing starts at 9:05 with the Fast Car Dash.
