The Heat Racing Series "Fired em up" at Daytona_RPV on 9/30/2011. The field was set by qualifying and 'ol man Patch showed that he is in no way, shape or form close to retiring from Heat; qualifying on the pole with a time of 45.649, leading for 11 laps and winning the race . Rookiesrock followed with a 2nd place qualifying effort and would lead the most laps (19), but ended up bringing his car home with a 5 place finish. Breeze was able to get things done getting a 3rd place finish although he didn't lead any laps he had a solid run. Hammer seemed to have a semi frustrating night, getting into a few wrecks and spins but brought his Chevy to a 4th place finish. J Rathbun was running good in his ford until lap 25 when he got stuck to the wall and lost his right front tire on the back stretch but no caution was issued he would lead for 9 laps. Spike did not finish the race but gave it a heck of a try. Grumpy who had the worst day of all the drivers managed to dial in his setup, lead for 6 laps and bring that 24 Chevy home for a 2nd place finish. All drivers did a great job using composer and patience as the Heat Racing Series ran live cautions for the first time in cup competition. You drivers were complete gentlemen using the gentlemens agreement. The next track is Atlanta on 10/14/2011 running 80 laps. Hope to see everyone back trackside.
