So several years ago, I found the Heatfinder website, because I enjoy playing Nascar Heat. In a conversation I had on the forums here, I vaguely remember someone telling me that I could simply download Nascar Heat, and play without my disk. I did, and it worked with my steering wheel and pedals flawlessly.

Fast forward maybe 4 or 5 years later and I have no idea, other than I downloaded Heat Core, the game runs but I don't think I understand what I'm supposed to do. Before I get in the game, there's a mod HeatCoreDEMO and Winston Cup 2000, so I Launch Selected Mod using the Winston Cup selection and in game, all drivers pictures are missing, there's only 3 available tracks to race on.

Now when I first found the Heatfinder website, and downloaded the Nascar Heat file, I didn't have to do anything with mods, and the entire game was there. So what am I missing? Or am I supposed to download something else, or do I have to use my CD to play the game? I'm really, really extremely confused now.

Any help that anyone can give me to just simply run Nascar Heat 2000 running without the CD would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: So under more I found an old download for Nascar Essentials. This is what I think I had gotten. Okay. So upon running NHML2, which I only want it to run Nascar Heat. So in the program folder, I found just the Nascar Heat 2000.exe file. I ran it, got in game, again, all driver pictures are missing and there are no tracks showing at all. When I hit back or anything else, it crashes the game to desktop.

I'm obviously missing something, all help is appreciated on this one. Running Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 16gb ram, GTX 970 4gb GPU, AMD FX-8300 CPU

Heat Core only comes with the demo mod you mentioned, the mod listed as "Winston Cup 2000" is how you play the original game. While we have permission to distribute the game engine, we don't have permission to distribute the original cars (aka the Winston Cup 2000 cars). However if you own the CD you can still play it under Heat Core.

After you install Heat Core (and assuming you have not tried to play with the original CD afterwards) you simply need to copy all the files from the run folder on the CD to the run folder of your Heat Core installation but do not overwrite any files already in the run folder on your computer.

Program Files (x86)/Hasbro Interactive/NASCAR Heat/run

Note: If you already tried to run the setup or play the game using the original CD, be sure to delete the entire NASCAR Heat folder from your computer and re-install Heat Core again. Then do as advised above to play the original cars.

Also, be sure to check out the great mods we have available as have older carsets (pre-2000) and the latest (up to 2017 with 2018 on the way soon). As well as tons of other great and crazy stuff.

Please let us know if you need any thing else.

Thanks DusterLag. Yea, I pulled out the original CD, and chose to install game to hard disk, and it runs fine, but I still think I need the CD in the drive for the game to initially start. I was getting frustrated with it because I just remember downloading, installing, and it worked.

But thanks, and when I feel up to it again, I'm sure I'll give it another try.
