I've noticed something that doesn't quite seem right. It concerns the "Headache award" bonus points.I noticed it last year during the Nationwide and Cup series,also..During some of the races, a guy that finished behind another driver, actually got more total points for the race because of the 'Headache Award" . That doesn't seem right to me.Why should a driver get points for a bad performance? Awards or bonuses should be given to drivers for feats accomplished. for instance ..in this last bristol race,i got 28 pts for finishing 3rd and Patch got 28 pts for finishing 4th because of the headache award bonus pt. If i had let Patch pass me,i would have gotten a bonus point for the Headache award.(regardless of that still giving us both 28 pts,its still wrong.) In some of the other races last year, guys that got the bonus pt for that actually ended up with MORE points than guys that finished ahead of them ,more than once! That just seems totally *** backwards. WE noticed this same thing at HMS and eliminated that bonus .OK.,Im done griping now! << Edited on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 9:20am EDT. >> |

A good point that League Officials will take into account for the next seasons, however because the season(s) have already begun we can't make any changes for the current seasons. |

I've brought this same issue up a few times in the past..Under the current system you are actually rewarded more for doing poorly opposed to someone running in 2nd, 3rd or 4th and sometimes even the guy who wins. Last night's long beach race is a perfect example of this. Patch made a mistake and finished last, but hes rewarded an additional 2 bonus points for it. If i hadn't of led the most laps and got the hard charger award, patch would have got just as many points by finishing in 4th as the winning driver of the race got. Another example of the faulty bonus's is take the Sebring race from last month for example. I finished 2nd and contending for the win the whole race and got 29 points, Grumpy who finished in 5th, 6 laps down gets 28 points. Just 1 less point. It's insane. You just need to eliminate the stick it out award and the headache award's would fix a majority of the problem. I would also eliminate the fastest lap award as generally the fastest car out there never gets this award, its always the person behind them sucking their draft who gets it. Too many factors affect the fastest lap award. What i suggest you do breeze as i don't foresee this format changing as I've pointed out the bonus problem multiple times in the past is make yourself a chart. I have one on my desk showing where i would need to finish if i happen to have a bad race or get damaged to the point where winning inst an option so i could still gain the most points..Why race someone so hard for 2nd when i can finish 4th or 5th and get just as many points as the guy who gets 2nd anyway? There's a number of different scenarios that can happen so make yourself a chart and you will see what the best possible outcome would be with the bonus's. If you do it right, its possible to get MORE points than the winning driver gets even if you finish in LAST place. Race has 5 drivers in it: Driver 1 wins the race and got no other additional bonus's: 30 points for 1st, +1 for leading a lap = 31 points Driver 2 finishes 5th - 26 points, +1 for pole, +1 for lap led, +1 for most laps led, + 1 fastest lap, +1 stick it out, and +1 headache = 32 points (Once Driver 2 recognizes he clinched the most laps led and started on pole, he could have the option of just quitting and still get just as many points as the winner gets by only running half of the race). As far as the 1 point chase bonus for pole's, that's another issue in itself. Technically someone doesn't even have to run 1 single lap the entire season but if they get a few poles during the season they could end up starting out the chase in better position than someone who actually won a race or 2 for doing nothing more than running 2 or 3 pole lap times. << Edited on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 5:57pm EDT. >> |

I'd say do away with the Headache award. Keep the stick it out award if the driver at least tries to race for 50% of the length as that promotes staying on the server and finishing the race even if you are having a crappy race. Another thing is there should be more separation in the points instead of just -1 point for 2nd position on back, maybe make it -2 points. Fastest lap doesn't always go to the one drafting behind as I know first hand lmao as I pushed a few people to the fastest lap before . << Edited on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 7:07am EDT. >> |
