where does the rear grid start and end on a track? i always thought it was after you clear the pits, get around the first turn, and have a clear shot down the straight without pulling out in front of someone or running into them.
but, i just saw today that i have tweelve pentalty points, and eleven are for rear grid starts comming out of the pits. i didn't save the NH race. but it appears i got busted on every pit. so i must have it wrong!
i did save the indy race and the atlanta race. and looked at them both. the first pit i got busted for at indy, i ran so far to the end of pit row, my left front tire was in the infield grass. the second and third time i came out a couple of feet back as not to hit the grass. i replayed the car that came out after me and he ran out of the pit lane, into the grass, and from the grass went onto the track about a football field further back then me.
at atlanta, my replay showed me i did speed going into the pits. i was going 90 at the line! my bad! comming out of the pits. i stayed under the line around turn one, but my right side stepped over at the end of the turn. i pulled it back down and when i saw an empty straight and no one along side or behind, i pulled out. i'm more than sure that in nascar, all four have to go over. but again, i may have it wrong.
so perhaps a ARL clarification of this could be put out at the beginning of the race just like where the pit entrance line is.
thanks

Your very first statement tells me you are confused, hopefully I can explain this for you...

A "Rear Grid Start" is a penalty, the same as -1 Point or -2 Seconds. A "Rear Grid Start" means you may not qualify at the next event(s) and must start in the rear of the starting grid. In this case because we were so far behind in completing reviews you have three of these penalties piled up from three different races that must be served over the next three races you attend.

Now as to why, you received a Rear Grid Penalty for violating Penalty System rule "VIII.B.5 - Pit Violation". If you review the rulebook it references you can receive this penalty for violating this section of the rulebook...

Rulebook wrote:
V.F. Pitting
1. Drivers are required to use defined access roads for entering and/or exiting pit road.
3. Drivers must attempt to travel pit road single-file in the lane opposite of pit boxes.
4. Track specific pitting procedures are provided during pre-race as determined by League Administration.

Specifically you received this penalty for a couple different reasons across these races, many of them were for Traveling the length of pit road in the pit boxes, as you can see in the rulebook V.F.3 this is not permitted and is as far opposite as you can get. While were lenient if you in the middle of pit road, a complete disregard for this rule will receive the penalty. If your getting out of someones way, out of fuel, ect... does not apply to this rule and you will not receive a penalty for getting out of the way.

A couple times you also received the penalty for driving onto the track mid-turn before the back stretch when exiting the pits with no effort to return to the apron, including one time right in front of someone and again a complete disregard for this rule will receive the penalty.

ok then, i get it. i'm sorry cause i thought it refered only to the way i exited the pits. and i AM quilty of the way i drove down the pit lane. i am still trying to get used to manual pitting and have a hard time seeing my pit crew and flag. it's easier if i come down low and i can see the wall better. i did it at my first real race, NH. and wasn't sure if it was leagal or not. i kept looking for a pentaly days after the race, and when i didn't see it, i kept doing it. i have been deliberitaly qualifiing poorly so i get a rear stall and won't be a bother to other cars. again, i'm sorry. had i known sooner, i for sure, wouldn't have kept doing it. at atlanta, i was out of gas and didn't think i could make the finish line. if you look at the replay you'd see the car had to be refired to get out. i thought i was going to finish the race in the stall behind you. but, i still would have come down the lane the wrong way!
thanks

One thing that you can do is, if their are cars in front of you, just duck down for a quick peek and then get back in line. Something to think about.
