Effective immediately use of Voice Chat through the HeatFinder TeamSpeak 3 server will be required by all drivers during all series events!

There is no excuse as to why you can not use this service in the background while your racing.

Please note that you will NOT be required to purchase anything (including a microphone if you do not have one)! You are only required to be able to hear the league officials as they provide direction during pre-race, during pace laps and during the race.

From this point forward no pre-race guidelines will be given in text form, pre-race guidelines such as those for pit entry and exit will only be in voice form. Drivers who do not have a microphone or who do not with to talk may ask any questions in the text chatroom of the race server in-game and these questions will be answered by league staff in voice form only.

This policy is similar to that of Hardcore Motorsports or that of the former Revolutionary Racing league. We have been also considering cautions in the future and this is one step that will need to be successfully to free up time for us to consider other changes and improvements to our league.

Thank You,
HeatFinder Leagues: League Officials

TeamSpeak Server info can be found here... http://www.heatfinder.net/ps or here... http://www.heatfinder.net/board.php?t=34

You can download the TeamSpeak 3 client here... http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Question: Since everyone can hear voice chat, instead of typing that we are entering or leaving the pits, can we now just say it over voice chat?

Is ARL going to open setups for a future series? I saw the memo about cautions. It's almost impossible to spin out/bring a caution out while running in normal mode.

The league does not require drivers to do this at all in fact, though we do strongly encourage doing so when someone is potentially in danger behind you. Therefore you can absolutely do so via voice chat instead of text chat.

No, the nature of the Arcade Racing League is Heat's Normal mode. Hardcore Motorsports, NASCAR Heat Racing League and The Mod Squad Racing Leagues are all great options for running open setup Hardcore mode races.

The potential for cautions is likely far out at this point, I wouldn't even call it alpha.

hey puttzracer, yes, if you have a mike and headset, you can just voice your intentions. I like that, cause you don't have to take your mind off the race texting. just say it. i haven't in the past cause I'm not that quick . I got a device from Logitech at staples for 30 bucks. Billy good got the same one for 40 (things cost more on the outer banks then in cape may!). we hooked them up, and loaded the team speak software, and it's all for the most part straight forward from there. if you want help with it, mail me back, and I'd be glad to help out.
also, if you get one that has the mike, make sure it has a mute button. and, also, you can get one that is only headphones. that is all that is being required. otherwise, I think you may just hear it over your PC speakers.

Thanks for making this work all, those of you that have not yet set this up - please do by the next race. Thanks!

The main problem i was having with this last night was i could hear you guys fine until i launched the game then i couldn't hear anything.

I don't know if this is error is related to it or not but every time the game would launch when everyone clicked go race, it would either lag really bad and take 4 minutes to get to the loading screen and then it would eventually crash and i got this. any suggestions would be helpful.

First up you need to set this line in your options.cfg file to fix the TeamSpeak issue...

compatibility_mode yes

As for your crash, Heat can not find the pg.res file. Have you recently moved, changed, reinstalled things?

It also concerns me that you have a data folder in your Heat installation, this folder would have been eliminated with the No-CD patch if you installed via the CD while it never would have existed with and Essentials installation.

No i havent changed anything. Only new thing added to pc is teamspeak. Do i need a new res file?

Should i also delete the other folder you are talking about?

The pg.res file comes with the Platinum installation, check the folder to see if it is there, if it is then something else is causing Heat to not see it.

If you have a data folder take all it's contents and move it to the "run" folder - do not overwrite anything in the run folder. If there are files in both delete the ones in the data folder after you have moved everything else to the run folder.

TeamSpeak would not have caused Heat to crash as they do not interact with each other in any way.

What version of Windows are you on?

i have a file in the cotg3 folder called PG and clicked on options and it says its res file.

the data folder has like 15 race racks in it and and a common res file, ghostcar, checksum, english.lng, bench.rpl, pacecar, paint, pg, pitcrew, race, ui, victory, and a tune file. once i've copied everything into the run folder is it ok to delete this now?

how is the chicagoland labeled for last night's race, i had 2 files one labeled N_Chicagoland_SP and Nchicagoland_SP. Maybe it had something to do with the track as everything was working fine before this track on the schedule.

N_Chicagoland_SP

Your log does not indicate any issues with that.

On a side note, have you checked your tex files, there very well could have been a bad paint file.

If you really have issues like this regularly then something else is going on as it is not normal at all.

i just tried with fordly, same thing i could hear him in the teamspeak server but when we launched the game i couldn't hear him anymore but the game worked fine, we were running laps.. (i have compatibility changed to yes in the file).

[SOUND]
cd_audio yes
compatibility_mode yes
create_sound_file no
effects_volume 0.750000
fidelity 1
hifi_pitch_shifting no
mixer 1
music_enabled no
music_volume 0.000000
quality 2
skid_volume 0.950000
spotter_volume 0.800000

Also when it got back to the main screen after the crash, i couldnt hear him anymore in the team speak either.

tried the 2nd time, i also got this error now when we launched the actual game the 2nd time:

back on teamspeak now, i can hear fordly fine..trying the game again..didn't work again. when the game loads i can hear the teamspeak cutout when the for the petty and irwin family screen shows..when i try to launch the game from in the server it lags so bad i time out, when the game screen finally shows its on the replay screen. then it took another 6 minutes to close the game out.

This was the same problem i had when trying to use ventrillo like 4 or 5 years ago, it would just lag so bad i couldn't even run the game.,but yet the game runs fine with no issues when I'm not trying to run a voice thing in the background.

Not sure where to go from here.

If your interested I can jump on your machine real quick and check things out - in maybe an hour or two I'll have some time. Not sure how long you'll be around if you would like that help.

You also still have a data folder according to the log

sounds like he has more than a team speak problem. seems like that works, but, not in the game. but other things don't seem to be working for him in the game also.
