Hi everybody,

I'm kinda new to this series, so as a rookie I just have a few questions.
I'd like to sign up for the T-Bone series (I know how to sign up, just thought I'd mention it). Are the car setups just the default whatever the game gives you, or is there a setup file that you have to download and apply? Is everybody racing with the exact same setup?
Are you guys using steering wheel with pedals, or using a keyboard to drive around (which I highly doubt, but I thought I might ask). Is there a good steering wheel that you'd recommend and it's a decent price (under $100).

Thank you!

Welcome to the community!

The T-Bone National Series doesn't really have setups since it utilizes the game's 'Normal' realism (basically an arcade mode) that disallows setups. So basically, all drivers in this series start with the same setup. Small adjustments can be made in-race through the game's context menus, though.

There are other series though that run different game realism modes that allow setups. The Patch Cup Series, for example, is run in 'Hardcore' mode, the game's most realistic setting. You can run whatever setup you wish in that series.

Most of us are using a wheel and pedal combo. Rarely does anyone use the keyboard as it's extremely hard to master. However there are a couple of drivers who use a joystick controller, similar to Xbox or Play Station controllers. There are a few drivers using the Logitech G27, and they seem to like it just fine, but it's a bit expensive now. I, as well as a few others use a Logitech MOMO Racing wheel and it works perfectly fine. You can usually find one on eBay for less than $90.

Don't hesitate to ask whatever questions you may think of, we'll all be happy to help you get started!

Thank you very much for the information, that makes sense now.

hey kozel,
welcome aboard! take it from a rookie in training, if your new to the game, the T-bone is the best place to start. it's the only one left that runs normal mode and is much easier to learn from and a whole lot more forgiving. you run mostly default settings but can play with tire and wedge settings during the race.
as far as wheels go, my team mate and I use the logitech g27 but they are pricy. but the momo wheel is also popular and can be bought cheaper. if you look around online, you can find deals on all of them.
getting all the software in order can get tricky at times. but you will find a ton of help here. so just ask!
if you want to test it out let me know and i'll join you for some practice. also, speedyman11 normally runs practice sessions on thrursday nights around 8pm.

Thanks mate, I was reading through different threads in the forum and I got the impression that this is a very friendly and helpful community, so I'm glad to be a part of it.
And yes, I'm still struggling to run the game that it doesn't crash on me and stuff, but I'm sure I can make it work. I used to have the game on my old PC, so I know that I can make it run just fine .
I'll probably shop around for the momo wheel, since I can't afford the Logitech one. So for now, if it is okay, I would like to run some practices with just they keyboard and see how that goes. If everything works out well and I get a green from the league officials, I'd like to run my first race as soon as possible.

Thank you

yeh sure,
do you have a headset with teamspeak installed? I can meet you there at talk.heatfinder.net, or you can just meet me on my server at 108.11.77.163.

I'm at work at this moment, so I can't really talk, but at home I do have a headset with mic and TS3 installed on my PC.
I've got a soccer practice tonight but I'll try to get on and talk to you. I'm in Mountain Standard Time zone.

Welcome aboard, always good to gain another driver I would definitely recommend getting a wheel of some kind if you want to have a good shot. You might be able to get away with a controller (we've got a couple of guys that do pretty well) but you have to be pretty dang good to make that work. I would get a wheel ASAP if you want to get into online racing, you don't want to have to run with a keyboard. You will get smashed. I race with a cheap $30 PC/PS2 wheel that I picked up on Amazon, and I generally run pretty well if I do say so myself. Nowhere near the level of some of the guys (aforementioned controller racers) but well enough to make me happy. Don't be afraid to come on out and give it a try on Saturday, though. T-Bone National series is at Talladega this week which is easier to get into than a lot of tracks.

By the way, if you want a custom paint at some point and can't do one yourself, I'm one of the resident painters that's happy to take a request

Thanks for the advice, well, I just ordered a Thrustmaster steering wheel on amazon, it should be here within a couple of days, so I'm excited!
Also on the paint job, yes! I'd love to have some custom painting done, let's talk about it.
