ARL: New Qualifying Procedure Begins At Daytona 200 Qualifying

Effective at Daytona 200 Qualifying next weekend the Arcade Racing League will have a new qualifying procedure. Instead of the traditional one or two lap five minute maximum single-car session, drivers will have a ten minute open track session. Qualifying sessions will consist of a single ten minute session that will begin with all drivers in their pit box. Drivers will be permitted to start and complete as many laps as they can during the open session. During the session drivers may pit and make adjustments as many times as they wish. Drivers fastest laps will set the grid or starting order for the race. If a lap is not completed by the end of the session that lap is forfeited and will not be scored.

In order to prevent vehicle damage all drivers are required to follow normal race and conduct rules. Drivers will also be required to remain in their pit box during the session unless they are going to enter the track and attempt a lap, drivers may not stop their car on pit road or else where on the track or active apron areas. A qualifying attempt must be started from their pit box on pit road. Specific rule wording and penalty details can be found in Section V.C of the ARL League Rulebook.
