KartRacer63 powered to his first victory of the year virtually unchallenged until the closing laps during Saturday night's PTC Legend Martinsville 120. KartRacer63 began the night by capturing the pole award with a 19.504 second lap over GTSVip9's 19.608 lap in open qualifying. Lots of contact and damage was incurred during the qualifying session which set things up for the upcoming race.
KartRacer63 was the fourth driver to pick up a win so far this season after five races, picking up valuable reset bonus points. The fastest lap and most laps led awards both went to the powerful #63 EHenderson Graphics Chevrolet entry from NH Autosport who led 115 of the 120 laps and was the only driver to break into the 19.4's. Early in the race it looked like Kart was going to lap the entire field but GTSVip9 made a strong run during the second half and cut his lead down to just 2.8 seconds at the checkered. GTSVip9 finished second and takes over the championship lead. BillyGood in the #22 Team Penske entry picked up his second third place finish with another strong run. DusterLag finished fourth after a race long battle with Fordly56 and puttzracer who finished fifth and seventh respectively. Team Penske drivers; #22 BillyGood, #2 Fordly56 and the #46 puttzracer who is an independent entry but is associated with the team; have been investing heavily in testing over the last several weeks and it appears to be paying off with their strong runs and finishes as of late.
Race five has come and gone and GTSVip9 moves into the driver championship lead by two points over Speedyman11 who missed the race. The top twelve is solid at this point with seventeen races before the first championship reset, but JessRathbun sits thirteenth and twenty-eight points behind Breeze who is currently twelfth. NH Autosport again moves ahead of rival TMS Wolfpack and leads the team championship by eleven points. Chevrolet captures their fourth win of the season and leads the manufacturer championship by three over Ford.
