ltfireman1604 captured his third career Cup Series victory, and his first of 2015, Friday night in the #87 Mountain Dew TMS Wolfpack Toyota during Spike's Daytona Summer 150 at the 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway. ltfireman was one of the fastest cars throughout the night though he started sixth he took home the Fastest Lap award, led the most laps (27) and earned the Hard Charger award all while holding off Spike at the checkered. Spike, for whom the night's race was named, fought throughout the night to take the lead but ultimately finished second after starting second.
Redimuss had a strong run Friday - finishing third after capturing the pole position during open qualifying and leading eighteen laps. BlackKnight started and finished fourth after leading thirteen laps and running in the lead pack until he struggled on pit road. Fordly56 rounded out the top five.
Speedyman11 may have missed the event but his thirty-six point lead entering the race was more than enough to keep him in the lead after he missed the event, though his lead is now cut down to just ten points over DusterLag in the driver championship. Nine races remain before the first championship reset. Redimuss is currently in fourteenth in the driver championship and is working his way up through the field as he races to make the top twelve, only twelve drivers will advance in the first reset. Donaldson and GTSVip9 are currently eleventh and twelfth and have been missing many races and are going to be in danger of dropping out, Red is just sixty-seven points from twelfth. TMS Wolfpack leads the team championship by twenty-five points over NH Autosport up from eighteen last week. Toyota captured their first victory of the 2015 season while Chevrolet dominates with ten victories this season and they continue to lead the manufacturer championship over Ford with two.
