Speedyman11 Holds Off Team Penske to Capture ROLL TIDE Southern 140 Victory

Speedyman11 and his #11 TMS Wolfpack Chevrolet held off Team Penske and NH Autosport's three Ford's Saturday night during the annual ROLL TIDE Southern 140 memorial race. As open qualifying began Fordly56 quickly shot to the top of the field for the first half of the session. Things got tight in the second half of the ten minute qualifying session when Speedyman11 jumped into the lead with a 30.049 second lap and looked to have taken home the pole - but with moments to spare Fordly56 jumped back into the pole position narrowly edging Speedy with a 29.990 second record lap time.

Once the race began Speedyman11 faced strong competition from Team Penske drivers Fordly56 and BillyGood who both took their turn leading the race. In the end Speedy's consistent speed and pit strategy allowed him to lead 80 of the 103 laps and capture the victory. BillyGood appeared to use fuel strategy to lead seventeen laps and was just nine seconds back in second position at the checkered flag. Fordly56 continued to be the fastest car in the field from the drop of the green flag, earning the fastest lap award in addition to the pole award, but small pit road mistakes cost him significant time to Speedy and Billy who both seemed to run near perfect races.

DusterLag struggled during qualifying and continued to struggle at the green flag after significant contact with several cars in the first few laps...

"We arrived at qualifying simply unprepared so it's not surprising we were at the back of the field but once the green flag dropped everyone made me the target. I guess someone missed a gear at start which stacked things up but for some reason fireman and Billy decided it would be a good idea to make a sandwich. They just destroyed my car, more than 50% damage all around, and I continued to be a target in turn one. We made a great comeback though and finished about where we deserved. Speedy, Billy and Fordly were clearly the class of the field tonight and I definitely had nothing for them." -DusterLag post-race

Duster managed to work his way back through the field and back onto the lead lap to finish in fourth.

Speedyman11 leads DusterLag in the driver championship by ten points with Fordly56 moving into third and picking up another critical reset bonus point for his pole. We're down to just one race before the championship is shaken up and reset. Only twelve drivers will advance in the first championship reset. TMS Wolfpack leads the team championship by twenty-three points over NH Autosport, up from eighteen last week. Chevrolet picked up their seventeenth win of the year thanks yet again to Speedyman11 who has captured eight this year. Chevrolet continues to dominate the season and lead the manufacturer championship over Ford with three wins and Toyota with one win.
