Speedyman11 Captures Daytona 200 Pole Award, Breeze Starts Outside Pole - 2016 ARL Patch Cup Series

Speedyman11 captured the Daytona 200 pole award during the open qualifying session with a 44.302 second fast lap thanks to help from his fellow TMS Wolfpack teammates. Starting outside pole for the 200 is Breeze who ran the second fastest time during qualifying. The first twenty lap qualifier race took place with the odd numbered drivers fastest laps from open qualifying, this included Speedyman11, puttzracer, JRich and Rookiesrock. These drivers had the opportunity to improve their starting position for Saturday's Daytona 200. On lap 4 Rookiesrock got loose on the front-stretch and went spinning into the grass, taking the pace car out along the way. puttzracer briefly moved into the lead in the meantime while JRich caught the field and took over the lead allowing puttzracer and Speedyman11 to conserve fuel and tires in the draft. The field continued to swap positions throughout the race. JRich again lost the draft on lap 13. The race was run caution free and ended with Speedyman11 taking the win. putzracer, JRich and Rookiesrock followed. The second qualifier race saw the even numbered drivers from the open session, this included Breeze, Donaldson and BlackKnight. The only caution flag came at the drop of the green flag when BlackKnight tried to go three wide and collided with Breeze. On the restart BlackKnight did not pit giving him the lead. On lap 10 Breeze pushed Donaldson to the lead but went too high in the tri-oval and hit the wall hard. Donaldson captured the victory with BlackKnight and Breeze following.
