Phoenix 55 Captured by Speedyman11

Open qualifying began at 9pm ET 1:00 UTC for the Phoenix 55, race 4 of the 2016 T-Bone National Series. Speedyman11 was fast from the beginning, running a 27.210 second lap. Speedy would remain at the top and capture the pole award but with a faster 27.113 second lap. puttzracer qualified second with a 27.304 lap. With Speedyman11 and puttzracer leading, the green flag was waved on the 12 car field for a 55 lap event. Speedy led the opening 14 laps until the first round of pit stops began on lap 14. Little changed at the front following stops, Speedyman11 and Rookiesrock exited 1 & 2 exactly how they entered. CKA19, making his first start since 2013, ran out of fuel before his first stop, placing him 13 laps down as he coasted to his pit box. The second round of stops began on Lap 29 and again stops began for the third and final time on Lap 41. Little changed throughout the field during either of these pit stops. Speedyman11 and Rookiesrock continued to lead the field by a healthy 5 second margin over KartRacer63 who worked his way up to third. DusterLag and puttzracer battled during the remaining 11 laps for the fourth position, Duster took advantage of pit strategy, taking no tires on the final stop, to put him in the top five while puttzracer was the much faster car. After starting on the pole Speedyman11 captured the victory over Rookiesrock with a 4.1 second margin after leading the most laps, 40, and taking home the fastest lap award with a 27.210 second lap. Rookie finished second and earned the hard charger award. KartRacer63 finished third with puttzracer and DusterLag finishing up the top five. Race 5 of the 2016 T-Bone National Series takes place at the Auto Club Speedway on March 19th for the California 80 at 9pm ET 1:00 UTC. View complete results here.
