Rookiesrock Captures California 140 Victory, Ends Speedyman11's 4 Race Win Streak

Rookiesrock took the pole position early in open qualifying Saturday night for the California 140 ARL Patch Cup Series event. Speedyman11 moved into the pole position with 6 minutes on the clock. The two TMS Wolfpack drivers began working together with just 2 minutes remaining. With the #48 and #11 bumper to bumper - Rookiesrock ran a 37.998 second lap, capturing the pole award. Speedy qualified second with a 38.006 fast lap. Leading the field, Rookiesrock #48 Lowe's Chevrolet moves into an early lead with Speedyman11 and KartRacer63 following. The first caution of the night came out on lap 6 when KartRacer63 caught the apron in turn 3 sending him spinning in front of the field, thankfully everyone managed to avoid him and there was no damage. The green flag waved for the restart on lap 10 with JRich, who chose not to pit, and Rookie leading the field. Rookie quickly took the lead with fresh tires in turn 1. Caution 2 flew when Kart once again caught the apron in turn 3 but this time he collected Breeze who was on the outside, causing heavy to both driver who hit the outside wall. With BlackKnight and JRich leading the field the green flew, JRich missed the start and quickly fell to the back of the field while BK, Speedy and Rookie drove to the lead. Racing didn't last long as caution 3 came out on lap 18 for another KartRacer63 spin. Green flew for the restart on lap 21 with Fordly56 and BlackKnight leading, but it only took one turn for the 4th caution of the night to wave. Fordly caught the apron and collected JRich with both cars receiving heavy damage. Speedyman11, Rookiesrock and BlackKnight narrowly missed being collected. When entering pit road under caution BlackKnight hit the outside wall lights, sending him spinning backwards and receiving heavy damage. Breeze and JRich led the field to the green on lap 25 but Speedyman11 moved into the lead by turn 2 after starting 5th. Breeze drove high into Rookie who had the outside line. Contact continued onto the back stretch when BlackKnight drove into the rear bumper of Rookiesrock who was slowing as a result of the contact from Breeze. Breeze went flying across the infield and bounced hard off the wall. This brought out the 5th caution on lap 25. Lap 29 brought another restart with Speedy and ltfireman1604's #88 Nationwide Chevrolet leading. Kart's #63 Dupli-Color Chevrolet moved into the lead on lap 35, overtaking Speedy. The first round of green flag pit stops during the night began on lap 37. After the field cycles through their stops, Speedy took over the lead with a 3 second margin to Rookiesrock and KartRacer63 racing for second position. Green flag pit stops began on lap 47. Breeze took a spin while entering pit road but received no damage and the race remained green. On the next lap Speedyman11 also took a spin while entering but bounced off the inside wall, again the race remained green. Following stops Rookiesrock becomes the leader with an incredible 14 second margin to second place Speedyman11. Final green flag pit stops began again on lap 57 with 14 remaining. Little changed after the pit stops cycled through, Rookiesrock maintained a 13 second margin in the lead to second place and captured his first victory of the 2016 season. In addition to the pole award and victory Rookie led the most laps of the night. Speedyman11 finished second, ltfireman1604 finished third and earned the hard charger award, KartRacer63 came home with the fastest lap award in fourth position while JRich earned his best career finish in fifth.
