Donaldson Wins 2017 Daytona 200 presented by Patch

The 2017 Patch Cup Series championship season kicked off Saturday night with the Daytona 200 presented by Patch. Coming off his T-Bone National Series win just minutes prior, Rookiesrock started on the pole with ltfireman1604 outside. The first 40 lap segment of the race was packed full of wrecks and accidents as drivers struggled to control their cars in 3 and 4-wide traffic. When the first segment was over Speedyman11, Grumpy and Donaldson were leading and pick up championship bonus points under the new championship system. The second segment of the 80 lap race had far fewer yellow flags as the field spread out between pit stops. Donaldson, who started 10th and was making his first start for a new team (NH Autosport: Orange), captured the 2017 Daytona 200 presented by Patch victory driving the #5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet. Donaldson also led the most laps, 39, and earned the hard charger award. Donaldson's last Patch Cup win came at Phoenix last November. Speedyman11 finished second with Breeze, BlackKnight and ltfireman1604 rounding out the top 5. Pole sitter Rookiesrock struggled during the second half of the race and ended up finishing seventh, two laps down. You can watch the race replay here. View complete results here. Race 2 of the 2017 season is the Georgia Peaches 150 at Atlanta Motor Speedway this Saturday March 4th at 9:30pm ET. The Patch Cup Series will be running the new COT Platinum G3 2017 Monster Energy Cup Series mod & addon effective immediately. Please note that your current paint schemes are compatible with the new vehicle models and will remain until, and if, you decide to change them. Note that this new mod is still part of the COT Platinum G3 mod, and is to be installed on top of any existing COT Platinum G3 files. However if you are a new user, you are only required to download the 2017 Monster Energy Cup Series portion which includes all the required files to run the full mod and add-on.
