Patch Cup Series drivers got more than they expected during Saturday night's Mojave Desert 140 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race set a new record for the number of cautions (yellow flags) during a single race, 14 cautions flew during the race. But the race's total length - 1 hour and 52 minutes - broke the previous record of 1 hour and 42 minutes set two weeks ago at the Daytona 200. Rookiesrock captured the pole award at Las Vegas with a 30.945 second lap during open qualifying in his #48 Lowe's TMS Wolfpack Chevrolet. Unfortunately the race would not go well for Rookie even though he led 20 laps and was running second at the end of the first segment. Rookie finished ninth and took home the headache award after an accident during a restart with two laps to go. Speedyman11 captured his 38th Patch Cup Series victory in the #11 Citi Financial TMS Wolfpack Ford Fusion. Speedy dominated most of the race, leading 53 of 93 laps, leading at the end of segment 1 and earning the fastest lap award with a 30.905 second lap. The race was also Speedy's 153rd Career ARL win. lepage71, making his first start of the year and only 4th career Patch Cup start finished second. ltfireman1604 earned the hard charger award and finished third. Redimuss and Breeze finished a strong fourth and fifth. Speedyman11 takes a big jump in his driver championship standings lead to 12 points from 4. ltfireman1604 moves into second while Donaldson drops from second to seventh. TMS Wolfpack holds twelve point lead in the team championship standings over TMS Wolfpack II while NH Autosport: Orange drops to third. Chevrolet continues to lead the manufacturer championship with three wins despite Speedyman11 winning the second race of the season driving with a Toyota paint job and the third race of the season driving a Ford paint job. Speedyman11 is a registered Chevrolet driver who during the first week raced in a Chevy, drivers can only race in the name of one manufacturer per season regardless of if their paint job changes during the season. ARL Officials are rumored to be reconsidering permitting paint job's that are for a manufacturer different from that of what a driver is registered.
