DaveO entered the 2012 season with a new team and strong expectations. After scoring 8 wins, earning 6 poles, and leading over 500 laps, perhaps his expectation should have been even higher. In an outstanding campaign, Dave succeeded Rookiesrock as the CUP Series champion and became the third different series champion in three seasons. Dave was in the driver's seat most of the series, although teammate lepage71 won 5 races and closed the final margin to 33 points (2466-2433). Teamwork was an asset; nowhere was this more evident than at Talladega, where both drivers dodged crashes, fell to the back, and drafted to a 9-second margin over the rest of the field. Perpetual top-5 artists Hammer (1 win), Rookie (1 win), and bover907 followed in the standings. Bmxtwins (1 win) and kyle contented in the early stages before encountering difficulty later in the year. And in an underrated run, DusterLag had his most consistent season, collecting 5 top-5 finishes. |
