Early Sunday afternoon LCHRL League Officials and HeatFinder Leagues Administrators released race review results for the June 20th events at Bent Twig and they included the expected penalty on Patch. Patch jumped the race start that Friday during the feature and was thus issued the penalty. League Officials released a statement along with the reviews explaining the penalty...
"Patch jumped the start of the feature race, as a result we have issued a Start Violation penalty to Patch based on rulebook section VIII.B.4 which includes a disqualification. The disqualification places Patch in eighth position with base points for last place. Patch will not be scored for completing any laps nor for leading laps and will not be permitted bonus points. Patch made no effort to give positions or track time back before or after the green flag had been thrown."
This news has significant ramifications on the championship picture particularly the Road Championship which Patch was expected to capture with a one point lead over Spike. After the penalty Patch drops to fifth and Spike will likely be capturing the Road Championship after the race this week. In the driver standings Patch also drops from twenty-three points tied with DusterLag in second to twenty-nine back in third. |
