Then you also have to factor in most guys myself included would have a setup built just for qualifying, and also a race setup. Nobody that I know of back in the day, is going to take his fuel setup, with gears made for a fuel strategy race, or his tires set at a certain psi, and use that to qualify with. That's your first mistake in saying there are no differences. Yes there is, if someone used a a fuel setup to qualify with.

Oh, there was, it was me! lol

So, I'm sorry Donaldson, I don't agree with your results stating there is only an advantage at plate tracks. If a driver took a little bit of time to build a halfway decent qualifying setup, with awesome speed gears, a slightly looser setup, then there race setup, and practiced qualifying with it, and learning a great line to qualify with, you better believe you can improve your qualifying lap times.. Just check any veteran drivers records..

This is in regards to racing hardcore with open setups.

And, this can all be achieved without backing up on the freaking track! Taken the time to learn how to build a proper qualifying setup..

Donaldson was only talking about Normal mode qualifying, not Expert or Hardcore. You two actually agree on this one.

That don't count. You were just a kid when you started racing!!!

After rereading it. Guess your right.. But still there are advantages, with practicing qualifying in any type of racing mode you enjoy racing..

Blame, part of what I said on jet lag if you want.. LOL

Anyhow, I've really enjoyed this thread, I hope it continues with other folks dropping by and adding there thoughts also.

MY TURN TO ADD THOUGHTS

I think everyone will make their own judgment calls based on how you got your wins. I don't think there is anything wrong with normal mode, just some limitations, and it gets people interested because they won't wreck the first time they touch the gas pedal. If we see the winners in normal mode versus hardcore, not hard to see they follow similar lines.

For me, it can be difficult in the fact you can't change setups, or gears to try to get better fuel milage, it's killed me in one race. It even got me a win in another. So i think each provides their own challenge.

Hardcore racing though, for me it's a given to make my own setups, for some, there can be tremendous difficulty, for me, I see it as freedom to make a setup to my style. . This part of the game, it can be a huge step, and since I've seemed to at least have a grip on it, I will pass on what I can to others to make it better, hence why i make setups for the other series. It's something I wish I had.

Also, everyone has a specialty that they seem to do better than others. There is nothing wrong with that, like me, I'm good with open wheel, and sport cars, and only "meh" with Nascar Based vehicles. Makes sense to my driving style too. So if I have a bunch of wins that favor my style, where does that rate me? That's up to you.

If you ever get into Nascar Based vehicles again, give me a shout I'll send you some setups if you like.
Just tell me what mod, and it's yours. For RC racing, your already unstoppable man. You've come a long way in that department.

I think it's great that you share your setups, to help others out. Keep it up!

If you ever get into Nascar Based vechicles again, give me a shout I'll send you tons of setups that are just sitting here collecting dust. Just tell me what mod, and it's yours. For RC racing, your already unstoppable man. You've come a long way in that department.

If we're in the business of sharing setups, I'll take those ones collecting dust as well...

Not a problem. I'm still waiting to hear from Ucrdoh in what mod he would be interested in. I'm sure as you being his teammate he would share them with you. If he's interested in any type of Nascar mod setups, I'm sure he will send me an email or pm.

Cheers,

Dave

Dave, if you're really offering, I wouldn't mind having the Latest Cup/nationwide setups you have. I'm sure they're really loose, but it's something I can work off of to see if i get better.

Like Gen 6/NWCOT.

Yep I'm really offering.. When modders from other sims give us permission to convert there tracks or models to heat, it's 100 percent up front and they let us use there source code.

Same thing I wanna give you but in setups..

Besides you've been a big help with SS, and so has Duster with letting us use his server when we needed it. It's called helping guys out in the community..

Anyways let me rustle up what I have for G3 Cup and Nationwide in terms of setups. I'll send them out to you on Monday via pm at the usual place bud.

Have a great weekend, and a big thanks to all you guys, for what all of you do to help keep the Heat community going.
