Donaldson Captures 2015 ARL All-Star Race Victory in Patch's #26 Chevrolet

Donaldson honored Patch during the 2015 ARL All-Star Race Friday night, and it may have helped him capture the victory. The evening began with the Qualifier race for those who have not yet won a race in the Arcade Racing League, three drivers advanced including puttzracer, Redimuss and BlackKnight who won the driver vote.

During single-car open qualifying for the All-Star Race, Speedyman11 prevailed running a 30.037 lap over KartRacer63's 30.068.

Segment 1 consisted of 25 laps, Fordly56 had a slow start in third and held back the inside line at the green flag allowing the outside line to get a jump start. Among the outside line drivers, Donaldson quickly took the lead through the first round of pit stops. Following stops Speedyman11 re-took the lead thru the end of segment 1.

Drivers parked their cars on the track during lap 26 to honor Patch who we recently lost. Patch drove the legendary red and white #26 Chevrolet in many series and leagues during his NASCAR Heat Career. Patch is legendary, during his career in the Heat Community he has accumulated well over 1,400 league starts the most of any driver and over 200 league wins. Patch was the one driver you could expect to be at nearly every scheduled event, if you saw "Patch: BRB Beer Run" in your chat window you knew it was time to race.

Following Segment 1 drivers were allowed to change tires, get fuel and make adjustments on pit road. After a random draw determined that the field would be inverted for the start of Segment 2, the final segment. This placed Grumpy on pole with Spike on the outside along with many of the fastest cars and leaders in the back including Donaldson and Speedyman11.

The final 15 laps was chaotic to say the least. Heavy contact, bumping and pushing seemed to last throughout the entire segment. Some drivers sustained most of the damage including DusterLag, Breeze and Spike but Donaldson managed to work his way through the carnage up eleven positions from the back to the lead - becoming the 2015 ARL All-Star Race Victor.
