Speedyman11 Survives Cautions, Wins 2016 Patch Cup Series Preseason 30

The 2016 Patch Cup Series Preseason 30's Welcome Race was held last Saturday to kickoff the new year at Daytona. This race also marked the league's first race with caution conditions, cautions and yellow flags will be available to the series' live officials throughout the year. ltfireman1604 captured the pole award during open qualifying and led 13 of the 30 laps, unfortunately he would not stay at the front of the field. The first caution came out early when puttzracer and BlackKnight bounced off each other while 3-wide at the start/finish line sending both drivers into the wall and KartRacer63 into the infield of turn 1. Racing did not last long after the restart as KartRacer63 and Redimuss would collide going into turn 1 - bringing out the second caution. The field quickly split into two packs after Donaldson bounced off the wall. ltfireman1604 lost the lead when Rookiesrock pushed him high and into the wall in turn 4 near the half-way point of the race. With tires wearing quickly Breeze slid the same wall the next lap and blew a tire. Green flag pit stops began splintering the field into smaller packs, Speedyman11 and GTSVip9 took the lead and held it through the second round of green flag stops. On the last lap the Speedy and GTSVip9 were side-by-side and things looked good for GTS who had picked up BlackKnight, his NH Autosport teammate, who was two laps down. However BlackKnight took time pushing both drivers until the final straight exiting turn 4. While pushing Speedy, BK caught GTSVip9's rear bumper and sent him crashing in the wall. Speedyman11 handily captured the victory after leading the final 9 laps in his #11 TMS Wolfpack Chevrolet. View complete results here.
