Rookiesrock Edges Speedyman11 in Record Margin Finish Victory at the 2016 NHCS Stars Pole Shootout

The 2016 NHCS Stars Pole Shootout was held on February 17th 2016, the race was an invite only race for drivers in the Heat Community who obtained a pole award during 2015 within a recorded league listed in the NASCAR Heat Community Stats. Of the 16 drivers invited, in attendance was BlackKnight, Breeze, Donaldson, Fordly56, ltfireman1604, puttzracer, Rookiesrock, Speedyman11 and Spike. The race was held at G3-N Daytona SP in the 2015 Platinum G3 Cup Series mod from The Mod Squad in Hardcore mode with open setups for 38 laps. Through a random draw Donaldson started on the pole with Fordly56 by his side. The field split up into three packs quickly at the drop of the green flag, including a 3 car group of TMS Wolfpack entries. With a few laps ltfireman1604 lost the draft and while the field settled down into a single-file line. With 6 of the 9 drivers in attendance racing under the TMS Wolfpack team banner at a track where draft is key, a TMS Wolfpack domination was expected. This teamwork was seen in force on lap 9 when 5 of the drivers broke free and went high in an attempt to take the lead as a group. Surprisingly this failed within a few laps when BlackKnight was able to leap around the distracted Donaldson to take the lead. Spike lost the draft shortly after the team lost the lead and on lap 14 hit the wall exiting turn 3 hard after loosing a tire, Spike then collected ltfireman1604 who had lost the draft early - both drivers ended up with heavy damage. Pit stops began on lap 19 with most drivers coming in on lap 20. Speedyman11 and Rookiesrock took the lead following pit stops with a 3 second lead and scattered cars throughout the track trying to organize. BlackKnight, Breeze and Donaldson were running 3rd, 4th and 5th but could not get organized into a draft and were loosing several seconds a lap to the two leaders. Things got worse on lap 28 when BlackKnight spun in turn four and took a tumble along the wall. Further back putzracer and Fordly56 picked up ltfireman1604 who was already a lap down as they chased down Donaldson and Breeze who were alone on the track at this point. Fordly56 worked his way by Breeze but time ran out for the rest of the field. Exiting turn 4 on the final lap Rookiesrock made his move, jumping outside of Speedyman11 and pushing hard along side. At the finish line it was a close call, a recorded community wide record breaker and a margin of 0.000. Post race the finish was reviewed, multiple angles and replays were reviewed to determine that in-fact Rookiesrock was the victor by an incredibly small and record setting margin.
