I meant to post this earlier, but storms delayed my chance to. Anyway, what are your thoughts on holding a July 4th race sometime in the afternoon?

Something along those lines. I didn't have a particular mod in mind, but that does seem like it would be good.

As long as its late enough and early enough I'll run some laps with you, what were you thinking like 3 or 4p ET?

I'll post this on the Facebook page as well to see if we can get more interest...

I was thinking it might be around then. If that wasn't a good time due to other 4th plans, it could be a half-hour earlier or later, but 4p was the basic idea.

Depending on how much time people would have to attend, maybe it could be a 20-30 minute race. Preferably in Normal mode, so that it wouldn't take too much time to prepare for, as well as relaxed rules. (Trying to take out the whole field wouldn't be allowed, naturally, but 'wrecks happen' would be the general idea.)

While I hope to join the race, I can't guarantee it. The weather is starting to look foul, and it may knock out my power. (As it did Friday.) Hopefully that isn't the case, but I figure I should point it out.

Edit: Storms are clearing out. I'm definitely attending.

If I have nothing else going on & severe storms aren't in the area around that time I might join in the #43

I'll probably come run a few races anyway. We could just do winner picks track like the ole-days.

I'm up for it! There hasn't been any real good jump racing since G3 was released. And anytime is fine with me, my town did all their 4th of July stuff on Saturday...

Wear was 3.

One or two races were held after you left. I know that for the final race, I, Spike, and ucrdoh ran at Pocono SP. I don't have the stats, but Spike won, I got second, and ucrdoh third.

To Dusterlag something to keep in mind for your ARL league it seems the normal mode setups work best on ovals 2.0mile length or less. On superspeedways the 4th gear was junk and you can't stay in 3rd for the whole race without the possibility of overheating.
For running in normal mode for the 1st time that was kind of fun except on the superspeedways, all the other tracks were a blast. Hope I didn't hit anybody @ Martinsville though, like I said everybody disappeared for the first 2 or 3 laps.

Please don't assume that normal mode will not work based on your experience in the RR Rally Race, that mod on those tracks are not compatible. Normal mode in heat does and has worked for years, it used to be the primary mode for online racing just a few years ago. ARL will be running G3 Cup @ Super Speedways and they are compatible, the upcoming race at Daytona can be completely run in 3rd gear successfully, at most other tracks you can successfully run 4th. We have tested all tracks including the tracks for the Sports Car series in G3 Grand-Am, In some cases for Grand-Am you will need to limit your speed on the longer straights but its worth the fun and competitive racing it will generate and I would not cal it an issue.

The moral of the story is give it a try and don't judge or "attack" all Normal mode racing based on your one experience in a failed combination of RR Rally Trucks @ a Stadium track. Between the design of that mod and the Tracks normal setup it simple did not work.

Hey Spike,

Back in the early days of heat, there use to be a league that raced in normal mode. I can't for the life of me remember the leagues name, but the league owner was very active in the community back then. Great guy!

For oval racing, you should be fine, since the game engine does produces stock car sets.

Now with running the Grand Am mod this way, it's more of a challenge, since heat generates stock car sets.

Now like Duster mentioned you have to be very careful that your car does not overheat on the straights, with the in game setup... Plus, a little bit of advice, normally you would be adjusting your brake bias and other things for RC racing. To make this experience a ton of fun for people, just learn to brake earlier then you would with normal rc racing.

I think Dusters idea of having a RC series with no sets, is the perfect way to get guys use to running some of our RC mods that we have in our community. It lets them get use to the powerful RC mods with just having plain fun.. Plus I hope Duster does this with other mods in the future. Don't just limit your league to just one RC mod for future series. Good luck with your new league Dustin. It's a way for every day guys to be able to enjoy all the hundreds of mods we have in our community.
